Vegan Lakeland Living Reviews

OVERNIGHT STAY WITH ANITA

"Anita was a very welcoming host. Room was clean and tidy with plenty of storage space and TV.Lovely bathroom and comfortable bed. Breakfast was vegan, lovely pancakes and tomatos etc. I thoroughly recommend this B and B" ~ Regards C.O. Saturday 10th October 2020

A WONDERFUL SHORT BREAK

“ Thank you Anita for ensuring that we had a wonderful short break. From entering your beautiful home we were made to feel very welcome and totally at ease. The double bedroom has a lovely comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. The bathroom is huge and has a good size shower; with plenty of hot water. All toiletries provided are vegan and cruelty free. The vegan breakfast and suppers were very tasty and of a very high standard; using local and organic produce. I would highly recommend especially to those who follow a Vegan lifestyle and enjoy the company of a charming host and her animal family Razz and Jessie. .” ~ Regards Bev & Norman Cooke

PERFECT!

“Just a note to say thanks very much for looking after me so well and making me feel at home in Cockermouth. Crisp white sheets, immaculate private bathroom and fantastic vegetarian breakfasts every morning - perfect! And no ripping off someone on their own, thanks. It was a great find and I hope to be back.” ~ Sarah

A WONDERFUL STAY

“I don’t often write follow up thank you notes to the numerous B & Bs that I stay in (which might be remiss of me) but I absolutely felt that you deserve the biggest thanks for a wonderful stay. In all my travels I’ve never experienced food cooked with such care, thought, imagination and creativity. The breakfasts were superlative, the suppers, magnificent....I could go on. Thank you very much indeed. Being on tour can be exhausting and feeling so well looked after made a big difference!” ~ Simon H from Bradford

A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

“We stayed here for a week and without exception had our taste buds tantalised every day with home made vegan breakfasts and dinners that were adventurous re-workings of classic rustic style cooking as well as other more 'exotic' dishes. Anita's culinary background and passion for her food came across in every meal we had making it a joy to sit down at her table… The room we stayed in was a cosy double as advertised though be warned that the bed is perhaps too comfortable and will require a lot of exertion to get out of and hit the hills from. Luckily, the smells from the kitchen drifting up the stairs in the morning provided us with that much needed boost! The house as a whole is a home away from home and nothing is too much trouble for Anita whose welcoming hospitality leaves you feeling at ease straight away… this was a very enjoyable experience that we would highly recommend to anyone but especially to those who are vegan or have special dietary requirements. Anita's vast knowledge and attention to detail takes all of the typical meal time stress away from you leaving you to enjoy your Lake District visit.” ~ Chris & Julija

MY OWN PERSONAL RESTAURANT

“I've been staying with Anita at Vegetarian Lakeland Living for 1 to 2 nights a week since November 2008, when I began part-time work in the area. It's been absolutely wonderful to find somewhere that's not only become a home-from-home but which also provides consistently wonderful vegetarian and vegan food (both breakfast and evening meal) all the time. No two meals are ever the same and it's been like having my own personal restaurant! The bedroom and private bathroom are clean, bright and quiet (in spite of being just off Main Street) and Anita is always friendly and nothing is too much trouble. And Nina, Rosie and Razz (4 legged friends feline and canine) are an added bonus.” ~ Adrienne

THE BEST VEGAN BREAKFAST EVER

“The food in this guest house is delicious. We were only able to confirm our booking at 11am on the day we were due to arrive. Despite that we were served a wonderful spicy creamy lentil soup with home made bread, roast vegetable tart with rosemary potatoes, lovely vegetables and salad, and rhubarb crumble with custard. We slept in a comfortable bed and had a spacious bathroom. Next day we were served the best vegetarian breakfast we have ever had, including a large platter of freshly cut fruit, a wide range of cereals, a fried breakfast including home made potato cakes, polenta and tofu, and more home made bread toasted and preserves. Anita is very friendly and helpful and there are two lovely friendly cats and a tiny Chihuahua to welcome you.” ~ Catherine

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

“What a wonderful place! Anita cooked 4 of us a 3 course meal with hardly any notice at all and it was fantastic (including options for a gluten free eater too!). We all ate until we nearly burst. Breakfast was all home made and delicious… I can't recommend it highly enough.” ~ Liz

WELCOMING & FRIENDLY

“I had an extremely enjoyable stay here. Anita was very welcoming and friendly, as were her cats and dog. The meals were interesting and delicious. I would strongly recommend this B&B and will definitely stay there again.” ~ Sara

WE COULD HAVE STAYED LONGER

“We only stayed one night as we were en route to Scotland but wished we could have stayed longer. We had the 2nd floor bedroom/bathroom which was all white with splashes of pink. Very unusual room. Extremely comfortable bed. Anita cooked us an enormous three course evening meal which was terrific value for £12.50 - all were new recipes she was trying from a South American book. The breakfast next day was equally good with plenty of fresh fruit and delicious home made potato cakes with seaweed and linseed served with mushrooms and tomatoes. Anita has three cats and a tiny dog and her house is warm and welcoming, as is Anita herself! Cockermouth is a very pretty historic town with wonderful countryside all around and we would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone who wanted a quiet few days in a lovely area.” ~ Sheila
